Another weekend of racing means another early week update. First to the results
In the U23 Cobble race at Vuelta, 2 placed in the top 9 as Lowder finished 5th after a crash early in the race and new comer Billings finished 6th. The time on the bike at these U23 races are becoming invaluable for this young team.
Then the team moved on to the TT race in Nome where Oertling finished 6th for his highest top 9 result to date. TT Ace Hyder had a mechanical issue at 5km to go and could not recover finishing 16th.
The final race of the weekend was sprinters dream in Victoria Falls but Hardt did not have his best legs and finished 10th as our top rider. Some beilieve 3 races in 24 hours could have been too much for this team but Hardt was rested for the first two just for this race and still couldn't deliver.
In other news items, the transfer for Billings was completed after the press release yesterday and he has already made an impact leading out Lowder in the U23 race. Also after talks with staff, it is believed that training Lowder is the best course of action at this time. He will be away for the next day or two training before being ready to race this coming weekend. Some following the team closely believe it is only a matter of time before Lowder supplants Hardt as full time sprint captain.
Upcoming race schedule for the team includes the U23 Sprint race in Statia, and the TT down in Manta for sure. Depending on how the team recovers this week will decide if a full sprint race is also added to the schedule either in Vorarlberg or more likely in Bizerte. One wonders if Hardt's next chance could be his last.
